Dispensing

After your eye examination, if you need new glasses an optometrist or dispensing optician will help you choose a suitable frame for both your face and your prescription. It is very important that the frame fits well.

The frame should also be chosen with your individual prescription in mind. The same power of lens in two different frames can look quite different.

After the glasses have been made up, they will be checked on your face and adjusted where necessary to give optimum comfort. If it is your first time to have glasses, it should be explained to you what to expect with your new glasses e.g. things may seem further away or larger than before. For varifocals and bifocals some extra advice and a demonstration on how these lenses work is very useful.
